How to root Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9192

In this tutorial we are going to guide you how to root Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9192 and install CWM recovery. Before following the tutorial below, we want to inform you that this root method is only made for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini running XXUAMF7 stock ROM.

In order to check the running stock ROM on your Galaxy S4 Mini, Open Settings > About Device > Built Number. In case your phone is running on different stock ROM than XXUAMF7 then you need additional step to install XXUAMF7 firmware on your phone.

1. Phone not running on XXUAMF7 firmware

If your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is not running with XXUAMF7 firmware and you wish to root it then you have to install the official XXUAMF7 Stock Firmware on your phone. Follow the steps below to install XXUAMF7 firmware on your phone:

a. Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer. In case Samsung Kies is already installed on your computer then skip this step.

b. Download Official XXUAMF7 Stock Firmware on your computer and extract it. After extracting you will get I9192XXUAMF7_I9192SERAMF7_I9192XXUAMF7_HOME.tar.md5 file.

c. Download Odin 3 (.zip file) and extract it on the computer. After extracting, you will be able to see the following files:

d. Switch off your phone.

e. After switching-off the phone, you need to boot into Download Mode on your phone. To boot into download mode Press and hold Volume Down Key, Home Button and Power key at same time for 5-8 seconds (you have to press and hold all three buttons 1-by-1) until download mode is active.

f. In the Download mode you will be able to see a Warning Yellow Triangle Sign. In this situation you have to press the Volume up key to continue.

g. Now, Open Odin3 (You have downloaded this in Step#c) on your computer. Then connect your phone to the computer.

h. Once you have connected the phone to the computer, Odin will automatically recognize the device and show “Added” message at the lower-left panel.

i. Once your device is detected by Odin, click on the PDA button and select the I9192XXUAMF7_I9192SERAMF7_I9192XXUAMF7_HOME.tar.md5 file that you have downloaded and extracted in Step #b.

j. Now, click on the Start button in Odin to begin the Flashing process.

k. Once you see, the Green Pass message in Odin, you can disconnect your Device from the computer.

l. Now, your phone is upgraded to the XXUAMF7 firmware (you can confirm it by: Open Settings > About Device > Android and Baseband version)

As you have confirmed now that your phone is running on the XXUAMF7 firmware which means now you will be able to root your device. In order to root your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini follow the steps below:

2. If phone running on XXUAMF7 firmware

a. Download and install Samsung Kies on your computer. In case Samsung Kies is already installed on your computer then skip this step.

b. Download GT-I9192-RootKit-v2.zip file and transfer it to your phone internal or external memory. You can transfer this file using Data Cable.

c. Download CWM_Recovery_Kit_for_S4Mini (.zip file of 12MB) and extract it on your computer. After extracting you will be able to see the following files:

d. Now Switch-off your Phone.

e. After switching-off the phone, you need to boot into Download Mode on your phone. To boot into download mode Press and hold Volume Down KeyHome Button and Power key at same time for 7-10 seconds (you have to press and hold all three buttons 1-by-1) until download mode is active.

f. In the Download mode you will be able to see a Warning Yellow Triangle Sign. In this situation you have to press the Volume up key to continue.

g. Now, Open Odin3 (You have downloaded this in Step#c) on your computer. Then connect your phone to the computer.

i. Once your device is detected by Odin, click on the PDA button and select the ROOT_I9192_CWM6_Kernel.tar file that you have downloaded and extracted in Step #c.

j. Now, click on the Start button in Odin to begin the Flashing process. During the Flashing process your device will restart automatically.

k. Once you see, the Green Pass message in Odin, then disconnect your Device from the computer.

l. Now again, Switch-off your phone.

m. After switching-off the phone, you need to boot into Recovery Mode on your phone. To boot into recovery mode Press and hold Volume Up Key, Home Button and Power key at same time for 7-10 seconds (you have to press and hold all three buttons 1-by-1) until recovery mode is active.

n. Under recovery Menu, using Volume Key navigate Install Zip from sdcard > Choose Zip from sdcard > Yes, install GT-I9192-RootKit-v2.zip.

o. Once Flashing is done, select Go Back >Reboot System Now from the recovery menu.

p. Now your device is Rooted. To check whether your phone is rooted correctly, open your Applications Menu, there you will be able to see a new app installed, called SuperSU or download root checker from the play store on your phone and check root status.

      Follow the whole tutorial not the half part. Firstly make sure you are having XXUAMF7 firmware on your device then follow the 2nd method.

    I rooted my device and succsess bat my wi fi is not working after root so I restore my firmware my wifi now working fine give me solution of that prob.

      @ Sam,
      On your Device, Open Settings > About Device > See the firmware is XXUAMF7 or not? If not then you have not followed the whole tutorial. Its clearly written above that Your Device should be running on XXUAMF7 firmware to root.

    Worked! I had some trouble to get to recovery mode. You need to release the buttons when the logo appears with a small blue text “recovery boot”, then the recovery will be loaded.

    One more thing: now the phone keeps warning me: “Detection information: the device has detected an application attempting unpermitted actions. It is recommended to reboot your phone.”
    What should I do?

    I did it on the S4 mini I9192 build number JDQ39.I9192XXUAMF7 (an AFR build. Works perfect. No hiccups. IMEIs remain the same, not even touched, remains fully operational. Thanks.
